Here are a selection of pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic productions. No matter what the challenge, all production schedules were met for some great projects. These projects have won over a dozen international film festival awards and a few international Telly awards too.
BILL LLOYD
"Look Into It" (2024)
Boy did I have fun creating this music video! Since I created a Film Noir album cover for Bill’s new album, it was fun to take the theme further, creating a music video as a Neo Noir Graphic Novel. As far as I can tell, there isn’t another music video like it! “Look Into It” is a great song coming from Bill’s brand new brilliant album of the same name.
MAC GAYDEN
"Friends Over" (2024)
This 2-hour, 25-minutes concert film is a tribute to hit songwriter, Mac Gayden. I ran 16 cameras during two 3-hour concerts and then I edited the shows down. The film features an all-star lineup of Mac's musical friends and admirers, including Jimmy Hall, Tracy Nelson, Charlie McCoy, Dianne Davidson, The Valentines and Buzz Cason (who co-wrote Gayden’s biggest hit, the pop and R&B standard “Everlasting Love”) plus so many more artists! This film debuted at Nashville’s Belcourt Theatre, January 25, 2024. The film is not currently available Online, but you can read a brief review from the Nashville Scene by clicking the poster to the left.
BILL LLOYD
"This Ain't My Parade" (2023)
I had way too much A.I. fun creating this music video. I went for the obvious and dug up a bunch of public domain parade newsreel films and home movies along with a couple of home movies from Bill, all dating from 1936 to 1967. I then tossed some A.I. at them so that folks in these archive films are actually singing Bill’s song! It’s the strangest, craziest, eeriest music video I have ever created! • This video has won 4 international film festival awards for Best Music Video. • This video has won 4 international film festival awards.
THE CONTENDERS
"Getaway" (2023)
When I moved from New York to Raleigh, North Carolina to work for WRAL-TV at the very end of 1978, the first thing I did was find out what was happening in the local music scene. By 1980 I was actively promoting myself to direct a music video from one of the local hip and happening bands. I wound up directing a few videos for bands associated with Chapel Hill label, MOONLIGHT RECORDS. The label’s first release was from the band, THE CONTENDERS. I had the album and would love to have worked with them but sadly, they had disbanded by the time I became active in the scene. Over 40 years later I finally get a chance to create a music video for the band and from an outtake of that famous first album from Moonlight Records It’s a small music world.
FIRST AMENDMENT WATCH
The First Amendment and the Right to Record Police (2023)
Documentary
I was privileged to direct, edit, co-produce and narrate THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THE RIGHT TO RECORD POLICE. This is an important teaching tool for everyone! If you’re walking or driving down the street and you see police action, what are the rules for you to record or photograph the police? Check out this documentary and find out! Produced by THE FIRST AMENDMENT WATCH at New York University, in partnership with THE FREE SPEECH CENTER at Middle Tennessee State University. A fun footnote: I have the honor of narrating this documentary along with Jonell Mosser. This documentary has won numerous awards, including a Silver Telly Award.
FIRST AMENDMENT WATCH
The First Amendment Right to Record Police TEASER (2022)
A two-minute “what to do” when dealing with police and media in public places - offering details on your rights and suggestions on how to behave so you don’t get arrested. Produced by the FIRST AMENDMENT WATCH (New York University) in partnership with the FREE SPEECH CENTER (Middle Tennessee State University). And yes, that's Steve Boyle as narrator.
CITY WITHOUT A SUBWAY 1986
Documentary (2022)
After Steve Boyle discovered 36-year-old never-before-seen video of the up-and-coming 1986 Nashville New Music scene, The Nashvillian magazine sponsored this 12-minute documentary where you can watch some of the 1986 performances and interviews along with current comments from some of the key players. Featuring performances and interviews from WEBB WILDER, BILL LLOYD, RICHIE OWENS along with interviews from STEVE WEST and STEVE BOYLE. Narration by JONELL MOSSER. A truly historic Music City music documentary.
COUNTY CLARE
"The County Clare Yacht and Track Club” (2022)
Lyric / Performance video of sibling trio County Clare. This video features two great guest stars - MAURA O’CONNELL (multi Grammy nominated Irish singer and actor in the Scorsese film Gangs of New York) and DAMIAN McGINTY (Irish group Celtic Thunder, and semi-regular on the Fox network series Glee). The song is fun, the performance is very well done by the kids and guest stars, and there’s all sorts of delightful animation.
COUNTY CLARE
"Search Your Heart" (2022)
Lyric / Performance video "Search Your Heart" is a STEVE FORBERT song and features Steve in the song and the video along with County Clare.
COUNTY CLARE
"All About County Clare” EPK (2022)
A quick look at the sibling trio County Clare along with comments from their guest star friends, DAMIAN McGINTY, MAURA O’CONNELL and STEVE FORBERT.
BILL LLOYD
"Feeling The Elephant" (2021)
This is the first song I heard from Power Pop artist Bill Lloyd. It played non-stop on local Nashville radio in 1986. The song and original album have been remastered and the album extended with additional era tracks. This is a current lyric video of this Power Pop classic. The video features fragmented images along with some 80s Bill Lloyd archives and of course, images of elephants. This is a fun, kinda freaky and kinda arty music video.
JAIME KYLE
"Wild One" (2021)
Here’s a really fun and rockin' lyric music video created for singer/songwriter Jaime Kyle. Originally a hit for Faith Hill, Jaime has re-recorded and rocked up the song she wrote for Hill.
WEBB WILDER, LAST OF THE FULL GROWN MEN
"Mole Men" & "The Doll" "Book Available Now!" (2021)
25 years after it's first printing, Webb Wilder, Last of the Full Grown Men "Mole Men" & "The Doll" book, along with a new e-books and newly performed audiobooks read by Webb Wilder, were released on September 10, 2021. This is the first of many promo videos for the project. BTW - I co-wrote the book with comedian / writer Shane Caldwell.

ANTLERS & ACORNS
“Come To Boone In September” (2021)
Here’s a fun promotional film I created for the upcoming ANTLERS & ACORNS SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL in Boone, NC. What a great little artsy town! And the festival has some wonderful artists to be announced. Meanwhile, check out the video. It’s a cute script by Nicole Sarrocco and features Radney Foster and Eric Erdman.
BILL LLOYD
“Lisa Anne” (2021)
If I’m given a fun song, I have to make a fun video! This is truly a classic Power Pop song - the lyrics are sad but the music is fun, catchy and stuck in your head all day. Since the song is sort of a love letter responding to a break-up, the visual are a series of communications, from handwritten letters to television promotions to literal broken hearts. But, all delivered with a smile.
WELCOME BACK TO BEARSVILLE
feat. JOHN SEBASTIAN (2021)
If you remember Woodstock or Utopia Studios or Bearsville Records or Albert Grossman (Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, etc.) then you’ll enjoy this mini documentary about the newly restored Bearsville Center. For added fun, John Sebastian dropped in for a few words. And yes, that's John playing the incidental music! • Jim Della Croce, Jim Shea and crew did a great job shooting this in Bearsville, NY. They then tossed all of that footage over to me in Nashville where I dug through it to put the story together in post production. It’s a fun and informative 5-minute mini-doc about Lizzy Vann’s restoration of this historic music site.
BILL LLOYD
"Mistakes Were Made" (2021)
This was fun to create and it's fun to watch too! This fully animated lyric music video for Nashville Power Pop star Bill Lloyd starts as a Neo Noir night at Gotham City and then travels through a variety of looks, along with a midway retrospective of the artist. The video is visually entertaining and even more fun to discover the insider nods to some of Bill’s past videos.
EARS
"If You Can't Win Fairly, Cheat" (1977 / 2021)
I found some old tapes of my NYC Punk band, EARS and thought it would be fun to create a short lyric music video for this song. It was a fan favorite! Note that the frantic eye-popping images are of NYC in the mid to late 1970s, intercut with some placid lyric animation. The song was recorded at Ultrasonic Recording Studio, New York, July 1977 - Billy Joel was recording The Stranger album in that same studio as soon as we left. The video was created in Nashville,  April 2021. • See more EARS here.
JONELL MOSSER
"King Bee" Live (2018 / 2021)
Going through my archives, I found this Live performance I shot (just me running nine cameras) in 2018 of Jonell Mosser and her band at 3rd and Lindsley. I love her sultry performance and gender rework of this Taj Mahal classic.
DAVID BALL AND THAT CAROLINA SOUND
"What Have You Done With My Love" (2021)
Rather than the usual pandemic style cell phone videos of band members lip syncing to a finished track, each band member recorded their performance at home and then sent me their individual audio and video tracks. I then mixed the audio portion of the song and then edited each video together to make a unique socially distant music video! This music video looks “normal” but it was very different to put together. And the music's great too!
GARDNERS OF SOULE
“Put Your Mouth Where Your Mouth Is” (2021)
Boy did I have fun making the GOS music video “Put Your Mouth Where Your Mouth Is” Vote!. But, once Election Day was over, the music video was retired. Now the “regular” version of the video has been released and it has to be the most frantic music video I’ve ever created! I had a lot of fun making all of this eye candy. Just stare at it. It’s hypnotic! It’s a sort of a 21st Century psychedelic video with a bunch of Grunge tossed on top. • GOS are two members of North Carolina’s favorite power trio PKM (Mike Gardner & Kenny Soule), along with PKM’s songwriter (Phillip Gardner) and two members of SHERYL CROW's band (Audley Freed & Robert Kearns). You gotta see this! Turn it up!!

JAIME KYLE
"Kick It Down" (2020)
I was asked to sync an album track to a live performance. The video is a fan home movie shot a few years ago. I then took it a bit further and threw a load of animation at it to create something that looks like a music video but still referencing the fan home movie in the image design.

JOHN PRINE "Bruised Orange" (2020)
The death of John Prine began the pandemic. The news hit the Nashville music community hard and so The Long Players dedicated a special sequester performance video just to John. This production is a pandemic standard. Each artist sent in their cell phone video performance. I then cleaned up the videos and gathered them together as this unique 28-minute performance video.
